Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 Maiden Flight

Singapore Airlines will be operating the world's first Airbus A380 scheduled service on the route from Singapore to Sydney. The maiden flight leaves Singapore on the 25th of October and some of the 485 seats are available through a charity auction being organised by Singapore Airlines on E-bay.

United Airlines Improvements to Business Class

United Airlines is to start fitting fully flat beds in business class from this autumn. Eventually fitting- out all of its fleet of 767, 747 and 777 aircraft It will be the first US airline to offer fully flat beds in business although Delta Airlines will start to follow suit next year.

Virgin Altantic Launch New Chicago Route

Virgin Atlantic Airways announced it will start flying between London Heathrow and Chicago's OíÈØHare International Airport. The daily services will begin on Monday 23 April 2007. The airline also announced that it is introducing a second daily service between London Heathrow and Washington for the summer season from 24 April 2007.

BA New Policy for Checked and Excess Baggage

As from the 13th February 2007 BA will be making changes to the number of bags that can be checked in. This will vary according to the class of travel and route. The maximum weight for any checked bag will be reduced to 23kg to comply with health and safety recommendations.

Eurostar - The Environmentally Friendly Way to Travel

An independent Survey Commissioned by Eurostar has found that it is, on average, up to 10 times more environmentally friendly to travel on its trains than on short-haul flights. The survey compares the damage done to the planet by high-speed train travel and flights between London and Paris and London and Brussels.

Virgin Atlantic Unveil their new Premium Economy Cabin

Virgin's newly enhanced dedicated Premium Economy cabin has been designed to give you plenty of personal space. The most obvious change is the new premium Economy seat. It's the widest seat in its class, with an increased seat width of 21 inches making it around three inches wider than other airlines' Premium Economy seats.

EOS Airlines - London Stansted to New York JFK

EOS airlines continues to offer a viable alternative route from London to New York with only 48 guests on planes built for 220. Fares start from around ´£2,000 for a return flight from Stansted to New York JFK. EOS offer 21 square feet of personal space, with a 6'6" fully flat bed and full sized down pillows, comforters, duvets and blankets.

British Airways introduce a new Club World Seat

British Airways announce the introduction of a new larger BA Club World Seat which BA say is over 25% wider. The new seat extends to 6'6" in the new 'Z' position, with 4 key positions of reclining comfort and flexibility in between, a softer quilt for real comfort and a new touch-button privacy screen for a more personal space.

A trial using iris recognition technology has been launched at London Heathrow Terminal One with the aim of reducing the amount of time spent queueing at passport control for those arriving back into the UK.

Shangri La to open its first European Hotel at Tower Bridge

Shangri La will open its first European Hotel, the Shangri La Hotel at London Tower Bridge, in late 2009. Its the first new build five star hotel in central London in more than a decade. Designed by acclaimed architect Renzo Piano, the tower is on the South Bank of the River, diagonally opposite the Tower of London. It is projected to be the tallest building in Europe (1,016 feet high).
